Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between components of SECURE-BASE LEADERSHIP and PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY with the dimensions of WORKAHOLISM among the staffs of the University of Orumiye. The methodology used for this study was descriptive-survey. The population of the study was all staff in Orumiye University (N=480), from which 214 were selected using simple random sampling method. Three questionnaires of "SECURE-BASE LEADERSHIP" (Coombe, 2010), "Psychological Safety" (Edmonson, 1999), and "Workaholism" (Spence and Robbins, 1992) were used to collect data. The validity of the questionnaires was approved by the experts and the reliability was calculated using Cronbach's Alpha (respectively, reported as 0.95, 0.84, and 0.74). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (MANOVA, multiple regression and linear regression). Results showed that there are significant positive relationships between all components of SECURE-BASE LEADERSHIP with the dimensions of WORKAHOLISM, and PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY also has a significant positive relationship with dimensions of WORKAHOLISM. Furthermore, results of regression analysis indicate that most of the components of SECURE-BASE LEADERSHIP were significant predictors for dimensions of WORKAHOLISM and PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY is just able to predict the dimension of Work Enjoyment dimension.
