Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between the amount of use of social networks and the formation of modern Identity is girl students. The research is descriptive and correlational. The population is 326 undergraduate students at Allameh Tabataba'I University in the academic year 2015-2016. The samples were selected by multistage cluster sampling. The data collected through a questionnaire of modern Identity developed by Kianpour et al. (2014). The results showed that amount of the use of Virtual Social Networks had a significant positive relationship with modern Identity and all its four components. Also bivariate regression analysis showed that the variance of variable use of social networks could significantly predict the formation of modern Identity (R2 = 50. 8). It is recommended to set up a virtual national network then plan to create new virtual Identity based on the native pattern, social and cultural policy making so that reduce the weakening of national Identity through non-native social networks, according to the results.
