Abstract

Understanding the relational procedure between Iran and Saudi Arabia, as two great local powers, prior to and after 1978 Iranian revolution leads us to the point that factors such as competitive-friendly relations, Nixon's two-pillar model and competitive-enemy relation, has influenced the current relation. Classifying two countries’ relations prior to and after Iranian revolution, will reflect the impacts of Iranian revolution’ s teachings on relations between two states. However, analyzing post Iranian revolution relations directs us to the fact that while revolutionary sub-Discourses came into effect in Iran, they troubled Iranian-Saudi relations. Yet the said challenges fall under their competitive-enemy half of relations. Besides the present paper has assumed the current Discourses within Saudi Arabia as fixed and stable, however they are required to be further analyzed by the future researches. This paper benefits from two theoretical methods/approaches, which are appropriate enough to explain Shia Islamic Identitycaused by the Islamic Republic of Iran and other Iranian republic sub-Discourses. This paper has much benefited from Constructivism theory and Discourse method. Accordingly, through an analytical approach and using present concepts/assumptions of the Constructivism theory and the Discourse method, it analyzed the Iranian-Saudi relations.
