Abstract

There are ambiguities surrounding the relationship of Islam to that of DEMOCRACY. Hence, the main objective in this research is to explore this relationship free of all preferential treatment and solely on the basis of principles involved in Islam and DEMOCRACY. Religion, in its narrower sense, involves specific rules and beliefs which ought to be compared to those of DEMOCRACY, If DEMOCRACY is viewed as a form of government with certain clear rules and regulations such as citizen's equality, majority rule, popular acceptance and separation of power, then these principles does not seem to be inconsistent with that of Islamic rules and beliefs.
