Title

TARDY INTRUSIVE BODIES WITHIN JEBAL-E BAREZ COMPLEX

Pages

  103-113

Abstract

JEBAL-E BAREZ COMPLEX is a lentoid-shape large batholith that is penetrated into Eocene volcanic rocks during a magmatic episode at Oligocene-Miocene time period. The petrographic composition of this batholith consists of diorite, tonalite, and granite. Due to the function of two tardy magmatic phases some small intrusive bodies made their way into JEBAL-E BAREZ COMPLEX, which of them we can refer to Mijan, Kerver, Dareh Hamzeh, and Hishin intrusive bodies that are petrologically well diversified. From the standpoint of magmatic nature, the rocks belong to these tardy bodies within the studied area fall into the bucket of sub-alkaline to calc-alkaline series. There are many similarities between these rocks and I type granite in regards to mineralogical and geochemical characteristics. Review and study of graphs presented by Manniar and Piccolli (1989), and also by Pierce et al in order determine the tectonic setting of these rocks points to a tectono-magmatic active continental margin setting, and it seems these rocks are the product of the SUBDUCTION of oceanic crust of Tethys underneath the continental crust of Central Iran.
