Abstract

The present research purpose is to determine the effectiveness of SOCIAL SUPPORT in SOCIAL HEALTH of FEMALE-HEADED HOUSEHOLDS. Hence, the study used a survey, descriptive design in terms of method, and applied design in terms of goal, and the sample comprised 140 female individuals who were selected through the random, stratified sampling from a larger population of 210, referring to Imam Khomeini's Relief Committee (Imam Khomeini's Relief Foundation) located in Roudehen. The research tools included two researcher-made questionnaires on SOCIAL SUPPORT and SOCIAL HEALTH, and Keyes SOCIAL HEALTH questionnaire. Cronbach alphas for the internal validity of the questionnaires proved to be satisfactory and statistical methods such as frequency, mean, standard deviation, Pearson coefficient correlation and multivariate regressions were used. Results revealed that SOCIAL SUPPORT is positively, significantly correlated to SOCIAL HEALTH and women who were provided with higher level of SOCIAL SUPPORT enjoyed a greater level of SOCIAL HEALTH. Furthermore, regression analysis indicated that informal support is significantly, positively correlated to SOCIAL HEALTH, Moreover, with regard to the significance level of the formal support and SOCIAL HEALTH which is below the required level; it can be asserted that the relation between these two above variables is overlooked.
