Abstract

Functionalization of MULTI-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES with carboxyl and amino groups and its effect on COMPOSITE properties of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/ Epoxy has been studied. In order to examine the interaction between MWCNT and epoxy monomers, hydrophilic contact angle and the amount of epoxy resin reinforced with MWCNT film is measured. Tensile test specimens to obtain mechanical properties of COMPOSITEs MWCNT/ epoxy, for different percentages by weight of the MWCNT was carried out to compare the results, pure epoxy and epoxy COMPOSITEs-MWCNT were also prepared without cause. In order to predict the mechanical properties of COMPOSITEs of epoxy reinforced with MWCNT, the impact factor of detachment (dissociation) MWCNT by applying the correction factor to the equation Halpin-Tsai is obtained and the results obtained from the equation Halpin-Tsai modified by the results of an empirical study of and approved.
