Abstract

Annexation of the CRIMEA to the RUSSIAn refers to the separation of part of the CRIMEAn peninsula, which was recognized as a part of UKRAINE and RUSSIA in March 2014, after a military operation, together with local authorities and RUSSIAn fans during a referendum, announced its integration into their territory. The process by many leaders and institutions were recognized illegal and sanctions against RUSSIA along. On the other hand, RUSSIAn and pro-Russian UKRAINE and CRIMEA, specifically citing the ICJ opinion on Kosovo, the process of the exercise of SELF-DETERMINATION, and perfectly legitimate in the know. This study poses the question of separation of CRIMEA from UKRAINE and join RUSSIA's move into its territory from the perspective of international law to be assessed? Analytical method to evaluate the hypothesis of unlawful and illegal. The results show that in terms of international law cannot be answered in one word, which is what happened in the CRIMEAn peninsula, legal or illegal; But this practice could in the future face serious challenges to global security.
