Abstract

Phytoplanktons take place in the beginning of planktonic food chain and micro algae are the food essentials in marine fish hatcheries. In this study the effect of different concentrations of NITRATE on the chlorophyll and LIPID content of CHLORELLA VULGARIS algae was studied. The experiment included 3 concentration of NITRATE i.e. 24.71, 12.35 and 6.17 mg No3-NL-1 with 3 replicates. In this experiment pure stock of green algae CHLORELLA VULGARIS and medium F/2 Guillard (with change in NITRATE concentration in treatments) was used in vitro. After a certain period, samples were taken for analysis. The results showed that CHLOROPHYLL-A in the 24.71concentration was more than the other concentrations and measured as 278 mg/L. At the end of the experiment, the amount of fat in the high NITRATE concentration medium was 56.09% which was higher than the two other treatments.
