EXAMINATION OF THE EFFECT OF METACOGNITION TRAINING ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF MATH LESSON AMONG STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS

Abstract

 The purpose of this research was to examin the effect of METACOGNITION training on ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE of MATH lesson among students of junior high schools. For this purpose, 95 students of second graders of guidance schools (46 girls and 49 boys) of Dezfoul’Sardasht district were selected in cluster randomized method, then they put in 2 girl, boy experimental and control groups (totally 4 groups). At first, for pretest, student`s MATH scores were evaluated by a teacher-made test. Experimental groups of boys and girls students received METACOGNITION training for 12 weeks, but control groups were trained in traditional method. Finally, a teacher-made test was prepared for post-test and all groups of girl and boy students (experimental and control) were examined identically. The scores obtained from pretest and post-test were analized using two-way between group variance analysis test. Results showed that METACOGNITION training was effective in improving the ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE of MATH lesson among boy and girl students of guidance schools. While, obtained results showed that sex factor was not effective on ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE of MATH lesson among junior high school students.
