Abstract

In this research the simple and multiple relationship of SELF ESTEEM, LONELINESS, AND SELF ASSERTIVENESS with SHYNESS was examined. The population included all the students at Islamic Azad University, Ahvaz branch in 2010-2011. The sample consisted of 225 (97 boys and 128 girls) from among that university. The results indicated there is a positive relationship between LONELINESS and SHYNESS and a significant negative correlation between SELF ESTEEM, self assertiveness and SHYNESS. The result of multiple regression analysis among the dependent variables and independent variable shows a significant correlation (MR=0.343) in p<0.0001 which is greater than simple correlation of each variable. In sum, these dependent variables explain the variance (0.11) of independent variables (shyness). Moreover, the result indicates that SELF ESTEEM, LONELINESS, self assertiveness significantly explain variance of SHYNESS.
