Abstract

The purpose of present study was investigating the relationship between religious orientation and irrational beliefs as predictors of depression in MS patients in city of Ahvaz. The sample existed of 210 MS patients which selected through available sampling in 1389. Jones irrational beliefs Test, Allport religious orientation Scale and Beck Depression Questionnaire-II were used for collecting the data. This research was correlation and results indicated that there were significant negative correlation between INTERNAL RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION and depression in patients (p=0.001). Also there was significant positive correlation between EXTERNAL RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION and depression in patients (p=0.004). The result of multivariate regression analysis also indicated that there was multi-correlation between INTERNAL RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION, EXTERNAL RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION, IRRATIONAL BELIEFS AND DEPRESSION in patients. The significant level in this study was p<0.05.
