THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MOTHERS TRAINING PROGRAM ON BULLYING AMONG FIFTH GRADE ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

Abstract

 The aim of the study was to investigate the efficacy of MOTHERS TRAINING program on BULLYING among fifth grade elementary students. The research population of this study was the fifth grade elementary male students of Abarkouh city. After doing sociometry and administered the questionnaire of PRQ (some parts of which measures BULLYING among children), data were analyzed.20 children who were selected as bully, based on sociometry and scores of questionnaire, were determined. Then they were randomly assigned to two 10-person control and experimental groups. Experimental group mothers received 9 sessions (once a week) of parent training program. But control group did not receive any training. Subjects were followed up after 45 days. Data were analyzed through using SPSS16, and multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). Results showed a significant difference (p<0.001) between experimental and control groups in post test stage. In follow up stage, results showed a significant difference (p<0.001) between experimental and control groups. Regarding the significant difference between experimental and control groups in post test and follow up stage, we can say, the parent training program can reduce BULLYING behavior among children. Therefore, it can be used as an effective method to reduce BULLYING among bullies. Results have been explained based on theoretical foundations.
