Abstract

The aim of this research was the study and comparison of HARDINESS and its subscales among girl high school students in Orumieh city. Sample of research was 400 girl high school that By diagnostic interview the sample divided to two groups, ATHLETE (150) and non ATHLETE (250). Kobasa HARDINESS Scale was administered among samples. This scale has all psychometric properties which are need for scale. The results showed that the mean scores of ATHLETE group were significantly higher than non ATHLETE counterparts on HARDINESS total scale and CONTROL subscale. Conversely, there were not significant differences between the mean scores of individual ATHLETE and grouping ATHLETE. Altogether, it seems that athletic competition and physical activity have positive effect on HARDINESS as a personality trait or that HARDINESS students have more tendencies to participate in physical activities along with their academic tasks.
