PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF GRAPHENE OXIDE NANOSORBENT FOR ADSORPTIVE REMOVAL OF REACTIVE RED 195 AND REACTIVE BLUE 19 FROM AQUATIC MEDIA

Abstract

 Nowadays progress in industrial activities leads to the generation of large amounts of pollutants. Among these pollutants are dyes and pigments which emitted from textile industries into wastewaters. Concerning the toxicity of these pollutants, it is necessary to remove them from water resources. In this research the capability of graphene oxide for adsorption removal of two anionic reactive dyes, REACTIVE RED 195 (RR195), and REACTIVE BLUE 19 (RB19) as model compounds was assayed. Important parameters influencing the adsorption of RR195 and RB19 including pH, adsorbent dose, and contact time were optimized. Furthermore, the adsorption kinetics studies and adsorption isotherms were investigated. The obtained results showed that the adsorption process of both dyes best fitted in pseudo-second-order model and adsorption process of RR195 was adopted with the Temkin model while adsorption process of RB19 best fitted in Langmuir isotherm model.
