Abstract

Background: LICHEN PLANUS is a prevalent dermatologic problem made patients visits the physicians. In view of the association between LICHEN PLANUS and HEPATITIS C, there are controversial reports in the literature, thus the present study was conducted on patients referred to Loghman Hakim Hospital to evaluate the aforementioned association. Materials and methods: It was a case-control study. 32 patients with LICHEN PLANUS and 32 control subjects matched according to the sex, age, and occupation were studied. Results: Positive HCY-Ab or abnormalities in liver function tests did not detect in the patients. A control subject was PCR-documented HCY-Ab positive, in whom liver enzymes were increased, however, Fischer's exact test showed no significant statistically difference. Conclusion: Probably geographic differences as well as age and type of lesions are involved hereby. More detailed studies are needed to confirm our results.
