Abstract

There were influences and effects between INDIAn and IRANian culture, ART and religion from ancient era. This ARTicle tries to have a survey though attributive studies and comparative style in symbol of Lion in INDIAn and IRANian MYTHs and ART. Lion symbolizes king's power and Mithra, Sun, Fire and Heat. Also, Lion is the carrier of earth Goddess and it has been symbolized as evil in Achaemenid engravings.In INDIA, Lion is the carrier of Durga "goddess" and the "god' Gansha. Lion is also a symbol of Buddha and manifestation of Vishnu in the earth. In INDIA Lion is in ever combat with evil.In INDIAn motives like IRANian ones, Lion visualizes goodness and god's carrier.Sphinx in IRANian and INDIAn ART guards and watch outs religion contents and temples (in INDIA) and palaces (in IRAN) from evil spirits and sins.
