THE STUDY OF THREE PRIMARY GEOMETRIC' CODES: CIRCLE, TRIANGLE, SQUARE IN ISLAMIC ART

Abstract

 There are three primary GEOMETRIC PATTERNS in ISLAMIC ART including CIRCLE, TRIANGLE and SQUARE. The importance of these three forms of multiple arrangements in different works of ISLAMIC ART refers to the significance of abstract art beauty. CODEd patterns increase the interpretation of art works in ISLAMIC ART. The CIRCLE represents spherical volumes and movements of the heavenly bodies. TRIANGLE is the simplest shape which is symbol of three worlds. SQUARE is one of the most important shapes and reflects the strength, the establishment and perfection. Muslims consider the geometry of art in the regular structures inspired by God's creation and the existing order in nature which is shaped by positive attitude toward creativity and spiritual sublimation. Three primary GEOMETRIC PATTERNS, CIRCLE, TRIANGLE and SQUARE in various arts had CODEd meaning besides aesthetic appearance have been indicated culture of Muslim artists in different Islamic periods. The nature of the GEOMETRIC PATTERNS is based on order and balance in terms of the artist's systematic work would increase the expression of celibacy and his mental concepts. The purpose of this study is to examine the meanings enCODEd in the shapes of CIRCLE, SQUARE and TRIANGLE within ISLAMIC ART. The current study has been done by means of library research method and analysis - descriptive way. The results of this research indicate that the discipline of above mentioned patterns in ISLAMIC ART explaining the monotheism and different forms of ISLAMIC ART were affected by monotheism which is illustrated in art works.
