Abstract

In the contemporary world, along with democratization discourse, the CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS have acquired very important palace in the politics, religion and sociology disciplines. In this area, examination of association between the religion and the CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS, as a dimension of the democracy, is a controversial issue. In Iran these studies have more importance, because political system seeks to combine democracy and religion in a new type of political system, i.e. religious democracy. Therefore, this paper tries to examine association between RELIGIOSITY and student's attitude toward CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS.Using a survey method and questionnaire for data collecting, a sample of 383 STUDENTS from Shiraz University was selected. The findings of the study demonstrated that STUDENTS were favorably inclined toward CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS and that a large proportion of the sample was quit religious. Further, results showed significant association between two dimensions of RELIGIOSITY (Ritual and Ideological) and CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS; this association in Ritual dimension was inverse. The RELIGIOSITY, with its all dimensions, had significant and inverse association with the dependent variable.
