Abstract

This study has been done to investigate factors related to SOCIAL IDENTITY formation among two GENERATION of SHIRAZi WOMEN. In doing so, we have used the theories by Anthony Giddens and Richard Jenkins in order to describe WOMEN SOCIAL IDENTITY of the previous and current GENERATIONs. In data collection the survey technique has been applied. This survey has been done upon 4oo SHIRAZi WOMEN as a sample by use of multi-step and simple random sampling. The results showed that the mean score of SOCIAL IDENTITY of WOMEN belonging to the current GENERATION is 184.05 and that is 191.89 for the previous GENERATION. In two-variable analysis, we have seen a significant variation between variable of information source, education, parent’s education, income, welfare, social satisfaction, self-esteem and the extent of communication network with WOMEN SOCIAL IDENTITY in previous GENERATION.In multi-variable analysis, it is shown that variables of self-esteem and information source (National TV and Radio) has a significant relationship with WOMEN SOCIAL IDENTITY in current GENERATION. Other variables stood out of regression equation. In the order of priority, variables of self-esteem, the settlement status and the extent of communication network has a significant relationship with WOMEN SOCIAL IDENTITY in previous GENERATION. Other variables stood out of regression equation.
