Abstract

Subject and object: The security is one of the most important principles of life and the first necessary condition for progress and achieving the sustainable development for the civilized society. What threatens the SOCIETAL SECURITY and may cause to gradual decline of a society is not observing the accepted values and sustained SOCIAL HARMS thereon. Many of SOCIAL HARMS such as ADDICTION may sustain irreparable damages on the body of health society. Establishing security in the society is considered as the most essential axis for police activity; therefore, the purpose of this research is exploring the relationship between SOCIAL HARMS (addiction) and social security as the viewpoint of the police chiefs.Methodology: The extant study is survey research and statistical society is consisted of head police chiefs and persons who have service records in the departments of defense against narcotics for more than 10 years. The sampling method is simple random and date compilation instrument for this research is researcher-made questionnaire.Findings: The findings of this research indicate that in the range of P<0.01, familial, economic and cultural status has significant relationship with ADDICTION and in the range of P<0.01, the ADDICTION has significant relationship with social security; means the phenomenon of ADDICTION may disorder the SOCIETAL SECURITY and whatever the tendency to ADDICTION is more in the society, SOCIETAL SECURITY particularly public security is endangered.Results: A significant relationship exists between the social injuries (emphasizing the phenomenon of ADDICTION) and FAMILY, ECONOMICS, CULTURE and SOCIETAL SECURITY.
