Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the geography of CRIME in TEHRAN city based upon the nine police stations' districts of this city and to answer these two questions: a) what are the most prominent and widespread CRIMEs in TEHRAN city? b) what is the distribution pattern of these CRIMEs in different districts of the city? The research's method was interview with elites who were randomly selected to identify the widespread CRIMEs of TEHRAN, as well as the documentary method referring to the available statistics about CRIMEs frequency in various districts of TEHRAN. The results revealed that the 10 widespread CRIMEs of TEHRAN city which drastically challenge the PUBLIC SECURITY are murder, kidnapping, thievery, harassment, rape, drugs, forging, swindling, villainy and scuffle. The frequency of these CRIMEs varies in the nine police districts of TEHRAN but in sum these districts are ranked as 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 5, 2, 9 and 1 respectively.
