Abstract

Nowadays, because of more CRIME in our society, there is an increasing need to establish some solutions to prevent or predict CRIMEs. Regarding increasing advance in information technology and information system together with large data warehouse developed in Iranian police department, it is vital to employ DATA MINING TECHNIQUES to analyze and extract some knowledge about criminal behaviors. The main purpose of this study is to develop a data mining model which is capable of supporting law enforcement agencies so that they can use the enhanced model to improve CRIME prediction and response, and consequently enhance safety for all residents. The proposed model is based on K-means algorithm and association rules to describe the criminal behavior in our society. A real dataset with more than a hundred thousand records is used to indicate the applicability of our model.
