Abstract

Introduction: The current research was aimed at constructing and validating the Iranian military family health questionnaire. Method: This is a correlational research work. The research population included all military families in Tehran, Iran. The sample consisted of 337 parents of military families in Tehran selected through the purposive sampling method. The instruments used were the Family Assessment Device, the Enrich Marital Satisfaction Scale and the Iranian military family Health Questionnaire which was constructed by the researchers. The construct validity of this questionnaire was evaluated by internal correlation and exploratory factor analysis, and its reliability was verified using Cronbach's alpha coefficient and retest after two weeks. Results: The findings revealed that the questionnaire has sufficient reliability and convergent validity. Factor analysis results further showed that this 70-item questionnaire has the 5 marital, individual, parenting, social and spiritual subscales. Discussion: Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the constructed questionnaire can be used for research and treatment purposes in military communities.
