Abstract

The shaping of identity and its redefinition is affected by different factors including the quality and quantity of personal relationships within the society. This factor, called SOCIAL CAPITAL in a more general sense, is among effective ones in shaping and redefinition of NATIONAL IDENTITY. This paper seeks to study the effect of social identity features on youth’s NATIONAL IDENTITY through survey method. Results show that the rate of social identity is lower than the average level and there is low correlation between SOCIAL CAPITAL variables and NATIONAL IDENTITY. Data analysis indicates correlation between NATIONAL IDENTITY and each of the SOCIAL CAPITAL features. This correlation is low, though this correlation is highly positive between other features and NATIONAL IDENTITY. Among SOCIAL CAPITAL variables, there is stronger correlation between SOCIAL ATTACHMENT and NATIONAL IDENTITY.
