ASSESSMENT OF PREVALENCE OF READMISSION IN ADMITTED WARD OF TEHRAN OIL COMPANY’S HOSPITAL IN 2016

Abstract

 Background & Aims: Readmission to HOSPITAL because of the impact on the cost and quality of HOSPITAL care and Impose an additional burden on the healthcare system, Is an important priority for HOSPITAL managers. The aim of Study Was Assessment of prevalence of readmission in admitted ward of Tehran Oil Company’s HOSPITAL in 2016.Material & Methods: This descriptive-analytic study was performed on 260 PATIENTS HOSPITALized in Tehran Oilfield HOSPITAL. The information collection tool included information such as age, gender, education, HOSPITALIZATION/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank"> HOSPITALIZATION, reasons for initial HOSPITALIZATION/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank"> HOSPITALIZATION, number of admissions, reasons for admission and HOSPITALIZATION/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank"> HOSPITALIZATION costs. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 21 and using Chi-square tests.Results: The results showed that 20% of the total HOSPITALIZATION/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank"> HOSPITALIZATION in 2016 was re-admitted. The rate of HOSPITALIZATION/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank"> HOSPITALIZATION according to the frequency of admission showed that 74.6% of the PATIENTS referred to the HOSPITAL for the second time, 12.3% for the third time and 13.1% for more than three times to follow the treatment. There was a significant relationship between the age, duration of HOSPITALIZATION/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank"> HOSPITALIZATION and the education of PATIENTS with frequency of re-admission (P<0.05).Conclusion: Considering the results of post-discharge education, the awareness of the importance of follow-up of treatment, the greater attention of the clinical staff to the health care needs of PATIENTS, the awareness of HOSPITAL administrators of reimbursement costs and comprehensive planning and prevention in HOSPITALs can be useful in preventing abortion because of administrative factors.
