Abstract

Around the world due to the increasing number of elderly people, mental disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease have also increased. 7 out of 10 Alzheimer's patients are cared at their homes. Thus, health care systems have been regarded to economic, family and care problems subsequent care of them. Chronic stress due to the continued care of these patients, have been threatened the physical and mental health of caregivers. SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE as the basis of individual beliefs, play an essential role in the promotion and provision of mental health. Therefore, this study aimed to determine correlation between self -efficacy and SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE of FAMILY CAREGIVERS was done.This descriptive – correlation study was conducted with 70 caregivers of Alzheimer's Association, with continuous sampling. Questionnaires were the profile demographics, self - efficiency and SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE scales. Mean age of caregivers were 78.52±72.13 years and the majority (6.78%) women, (4.71%) married, (8.34%) diploma, (60%) daughter of patients and (50%) were housewives. Mean of self -efficacy were 13.63±91.9 (85-17) as (4.71%) were at high level of self-efficacy. Mean of SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE was 35.59±06.17 (96-0) as majority of caregivers (%6.58) were at intermediate level. Results showed a significant correlation between self-efficacy and SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE of caregivers (p=0.001).
