Abstract

One of the proper solutions in criticizing different opinions on Quranic verses is application of literary analysis. Therefore considering the role of literary opinion points in the interpretation of the verse is essential. "…surely I’m appointing a CALIPH on the earth" is one of the verses which on one side there are different literary analyses about it and on the other side due to different viewpoint of Muslim scholars on the status of divine vicegerency, interpretations on this verse has been varied, Thus.So this essay is going to pursue the discrepancy of exegetic viewpoints of classical interpreters and the contemporary ones in clarification of the terms CALIPH, THE ONE FOR WHOM IS APPOINTED A VICEGERENT, appointment of the successor, by review of its literary opinions. Finally, we will clarify this verse is one of the verses about the concept of “Welāyah” which can be cited on appointing and also approving the status of divine vicegerency for ahlulbayt (a.s) assigned by Allah.
