Abstract

 The aim of this study was to investigation the effectiveness of PREMARITAL EDUCATION Program Based on Premarital Interpersonal Choices and Knowledge (PICK) program on reducing the Relationship Beliefs in students of universities of Ahwaz city. This research was an expanded quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest and Follow up with the control group. From this population 38 volunteer students were selected on the basis of 1 standard deviation above the mean of relationship beliefs inventory, and the criteria for inclusion and exclusion and were assigned randomly to a treatment group (n=19) and a control group (n=19). The participants completed the relationship beliefs inventory (RBI) in three stages (pre-test, post-test, and follow-up after 45 days). The experimental group was given a PICK program of 9 sessions, twice a week for 90 minutes. The results of analysis of covariance showed that PICK training has led to a reduction in dysfunctional relationship beliefs of students (Disagreement is destructive, partners cannot change, mind reading is expected, sexual perfectionism and the sexes are different) in the experimental group than the control group at posttest and follow-up. Based on the findings, we can conclude that PREMARITAL EDUCATION, premarital interpersonal choices and knowledge (PICK) programs is a suitable method for reducing the dysfunctional relationship beliefs singles in before marriage.
