Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate the role of CHILDHOOD PERCEIVED ATTACHMENT in GOD IMAGE adaptation process to design a model for explaining IMAGE OF SELF. 432 students from Birjand University, who were selected by multi stage clustering method, supplemented the scales of God, self image and attachment to parent. Structural equations modeling method was used to analyze the results. The results demonstrated that the image of God completely mediates the relation between secure attachment to mother and self image, while only secure attachment to father directly and indirectly (through the image of God) produces a positive image of Exploration abilities of self (cognitive abilities, efforts, and hard work) which indicates the strength of security base attachment to father. So, investigating the role of perceived attachment to each parent not only is important in GOD IMAGE adaptation process, but also forming adaptation process of the image of God explains the secure base of attachment to parents in efforts and hard work (the IMAGE OF SELF) and functions as a mediator in this relationship.
