Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of SATIR BRIEF FAMILY THERAPY on couple INTIMACY. The research procedure was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest and control group design. The population of the study was the volunteer COUPLES in Gazvin city. The sample consisted of 16 COUPLES (8 COUPLES in the control group and 8 COUPLES in the experimental group), who were randomly assigned into experimental and control groups. After drop out, 6 COUPLES took part as the experimental and 6 COUPLES as the control group. The experimental group participated in 6 sessions of SATIR BRIEF FAMILY THERAPY, while the control group did not receive any treatment. "Walker & Thompson’s, INTIMACY Scale"1983 was used as pretest, posttest and follow up measure. The results of ANCOVA (analysis of covariance) revealed that there is a significant difference between the 2 groups (P<0.05). Therefore, it is suggested that SATIR BRIEF FAMILY THERAPY is effective on couple INTIMACY in the experimental group compared to those in the control group. The findings of this study have shown that SATIR BRIEF FAMILY THERAPY can influence couple INTIMACY. So, this information can be used in therapeutic and clinical interventions. This information can increase the couple INTIMACY and at least prevent its reduction.
