Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of GROUP SCHEMA THERAPY on increasing HAPPINESS among the elderly residing in the nursing homes in Tabriz. The study Population included all the people aged 65 and above who lived in the nursing homes of Tabriz in 2013 and were free of psychological disorders (amnesia, dementia, and Alzheimer). A sample of 20 people (10 men and 10 women) was selected by simple random sampling and was divided into the experimental and control groups. The Oxford HAPPINESS Inventory (OHI) was used for data collection. The experimental group received GROUP SCHEMA THERAPY one two-hour session every week for 10 weeks. Covariance analysis was used for data analysis. The results indicated that the HAPPINESS of the SENIORS who received GROUP SCHEMA THERAPY was significantly more than the HAPPINESS of those who didn’t receive the therapy. In other words, GROUP SCHEMA THERAPY has an effect on increasing the HAPPINESS of the SENIORS living in the nursing homes of Tabriz (p<0.01).
