THE MODEL OF THE EFFECTS OF WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT, JOB DANGERS AND ROLE OVERLOAD ON NURSES’ PERFORMANCE

Abstract

 This research was carried out with the aim of studying the model of the effects of WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT, JOB DANGERS and ROLE OVERLOAD on nurses’ PERFORMANCE. The statistical population included the female NURSES AND AUXILIARY NURSES of three private clinics, from among whom 94 persons were selected on the basis of random stratified method. Research instruments consisted of: Lambert et al's (2007) WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT, JOB DANGERS, ROLE OVERLOAD and organizational COMMITMENT questionnaires and ouyang's (2009) job INVOLVEMENT and PERFORMANCE questionnaires. The data which were gathered from research questionnaires were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and structure equation modeling. The results of data analysis showed that: 1. there is a significant negative relationship between organizational COMMITMENT and WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT, but there are significant positive relationships between organizational COMMITMENT with job INVOLVEMENT and PERFORMANCE. 2. There is a significant positive relationship between ROLE OVERLOAD with WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT. 3. JOB DANGERS have a significant positive relationship with WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT. 4. Finally job INVOLVEMENT has a significant positive relationship with PERFORMANCE. 5. The results of structure equation modeling revealed that, firstly ROLE OVERLOAD, JOB DANGERS and WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT weaken organizational COMMITMENT, then organizational COMMITMENT weakens job INVOLVEMENT and in the final step, organizational COMMITMENT and job INVOLVEMENT decrease NURSES AND AUXILIARY NURSES PERFORMANCE.
