Abstract

The purpose of this research was to predict MARITAL CONFLICTs through RESILIENCE and SENSATION SEEKING in couples. The method of research was correlation. The statistical population of the present research comprised the couples referring to the health houses in Region 21of Tehran Municipality. The research sample consisted of 30 couples (30 male and 30 female) that were selected by multi-stage, random cluster sampling method. Conner-Davidson RESILIENCE Scale (2003), MARITAL CONFLICTs Questionnaire of Sanae and Barati (1379) and Zuckerman's SENSATION SEEKING scale (1978) were used to gather data. The data were analyzed by multiple regression analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient and independent t-test. The results showed that RESILIENCE (r= -0.687) and SENSATION SEEKING (r=0.696) were related to MARITAL CONFLICTs. The results of multiple regression analyses showed that SENSATION SEEKING (P<0.01) and RESILIENCE (P<0.01) explained 60 percent of variance of MARITAL CONFLICTs in couples. Also, the result of independent t-test indicated that there was a significant difference between men and women in SENSATION SEEKING (P<0. 01) and SENSATION SEEKING is more in men than in women.
