Abstract

The term GLOBAL VILLAGE by Marshall MCLUHAN is a social theory which is used to describe the future of world affected by media. MCLUHAN, who is considered as new age Newton and a wise presager, believed in minimizing world and Shrinkage it via electronic facilities. In this case Due to access to the INTERNET and SOCIAL NETWORKS anywhere and anytime and also because of sending and receiving information at once, according to some people’s opinion it can be the meaning of GLOBAL VILLAGE to some extent.. Therefore the final target of this issue is the answer to this question, whether or not online SOCIAL NETWORKS have been able to present MCLUHAN’s term of GLOBAL VILLAGE? In order to achieve the mentioned target we have done some quantity research with the use of analyzing content technique, which is done according to the number of our international FACEBOOK friends. Although the findings do not show exactly that online SOCIAL NETWORKS present MCLUHAN’s term of GLOBAL VILLAGE but it seems SOCIAL NETWORKS make us closer to GLOBAL VILLAGE. It is easy to say that FACEBOOK and other online social sites have increased interactions and it has led us to GLOBAL VILLAGE.
