Abstract

In different organizations, especially media outlets, management shoulders numerous responsibilities, one of the most important of which is “MONITORING”. In such organizations, prospects, strategies and goals are specified, and the timing, costs and means required to achieve them are crystallized through meticulous planning. Nonetheless, how can one rest assured that activities will be performed as planned, and objectives accomplished as managers wish?This will not happen without precise, constant and scientific MONITORING. Therefore, MONITORING plays a vital role as the final step in the line of managerial duties, and how it is implemented can affect all other responsibilities of a manager. This article deals with the “nature of MONITORING”, “how it differs in media and non-media organizations”, “MONITORING of NEWS and political programs”, “similarities and differences between MONITORING and EVALUATION”, and “standards and models of MONITORING and EVALUATION”.
