Abstract

This research aims at studying "the role of INCOME RESOURCES in independence of Iranian Students' NEWS AGENCY (ISNA)." This study is after evaluation of the role of factors like INCOME RESOURCES on ISNA independence in a bid to provide the grounds for budgets and various, independent and sustainable financial resources, and of course securing the independence of news agencies in Iran. This research conducted by simple random sampling, Cochran formula and through gauging and questionnaires techniques from 144 of correspondents, editors, chief editors and manager of ISNA, has measured INCOME RESOURCES, continuation of successful and professional activities, facilities and equipment, provision of various news and products and non-dependent on the different organizations and governments, political economic structure, beneficiaries, competition with the other news agencies and readerships confidence as the variables obtained from the research-based literature of the study and effective factors on ISNA independence were also weighted in the project. Results of this research obtained based on participants indicated that all the above-mentioned items except political economic structures and competence with other media are playing a significant role in ISNA's independence. It also showed that in case ISNA's financial resources increase, the independence coefficient of the agency raises too. Overall, based on the analysis of the data obtained from one and two-dimensioned tables of the questionnaires, it could be said that INCOME RESOURCES have a remarkable role in providing independence of a media. ISNA needs to have access to various, independent and sustainable INCOME RESOURCES in order to secure its independence.
