Title

Equilibrium in geopolitical policies of India (Emphasis on the role and position of the Chabahar port of Iran)

Pages

  46-65

Abstract

Geographic locations are useful to political actors when they have productive value (political, economic, geostrategic, and geopolitical); in other words, by Geopolitical Weight they can meet the vital needs of that political actor (for example, the country). The Chabahar Port is such a place which has high Geopolitical Weight. India, as a major regional power and emerging world power, intends to use the potential of Chabahar in a equilibrium with major rivals. Briefly; the equilibrium of India through the Chabahar Port has two main goals: the equilibrium of interests with Iran, which is a kind of desired interdependence. The balance of power with Pakistan and China, which is a type of competition and sometimes a struggle; in this respect, primarily, Chabahar is such a gateway for India to exit from the blockade of siege in South Asia by China and Pakistan. In the next step, Iran's (Chabahar) route is a strategic, safe and affordable route; which is the most suitable route for India to enter Afghanistan (despite the hostility with Pakistan), Central Asia and the Caspian Sea countries. Entering to India, through Iran, or mentioned areas has some goals including: economic (energy and trade), security (counter-terrorism) and political goals (equilibrium and competition with China and Pakistan).
