Abstract

Social happiness plays a fundamental role in social life. In comparison with any other human natural characteristic, it has the highest impact on the improvement of relations and interactions. The aim of this research was to study the NEIGHBORHOOD INTERACTIONS and its impact on residents' social happiness in the city of Hamadan. The ideas of certain social scientists in areas of happiness and urban studies like Jacobs, Falanagan, Park, Giddens, Argyle, Essence, Veenhoven and Kalmijn were used. Methodology of the research was descriptive and its approach was sociological. Statistical society was all of the Hamedan citizens whom were in the city at the time of the study. Based on Cochrane formula 384 persons were established for the study by Multi-stage cluster sampling. Two type questionnaires were used for gathering data: 1- Pavl valine and Schuesler's neighborhood interaction questionnaire and 2- questionnaire based on Argyle and Essence hilarity theory and Giddens trust theory. The results showed there was significant and strong relationship between NEIGHBORHOOD INTERACTIONS and SOCIAL HILARITY SENSE (r=.172). There was no significant difference between women and men in the NEIGHBORHOOD INTERACTIONS but there was significant difference in the sense of social hilarity. Multivariate regression showed that from the neighborhood interaction components, the RELATIONSHIP NETWORK is the most important explanatory of the SOCIAL HILARITY SENSE. Path analysis showed RELATIONSHIP NETWORK and COGNITION NEIGHBORhood has effect on TRUST IN NEIGHBORs.
