THE ROLE OF MEDIA IN PROMOTING A CULTURE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Abstract

 Our main goal in this research is to gain knowledge about the role of the PRESS in promoting a culture of ENTREPRENEURSHIP in society.In this path, indicators of promoting a culture of ENTREPRENEURSHIP were extracted by a literature review of ENTREPRENEURSHIP .Then the theoretical framework of the research was developed by using some indicators such as the need to succeed (competitiveness), self-esteem, risk-taking tendency, need for autonomy, creativity, using ideas of social learning, Uses and Gratifications, Agenda-setting, diffusion of innovations.The research statistics population were the M.A students studying ENTREPRENEURSHIP major at Tehran university which 200 of them were selected randomly as the research hypotheses and were tested via the assigned questionnaire. In mentioned research we used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, then we approved or rejected the hypotheses by Spearman’s correlation coefficient in order to investigate the normality of the variables.After extraction we concluded that most respondents believe the PRESS as one the most influential media can cause the formation of entrepreneurial attitudes in audience, will transfer the belief of ENTREPRENEURSHIP to them and eventually will internalize the values of ENTREPRENEURSHIP at them.The results suggest that the PRESS can PROMOTE entrepreneurial culture in society by publishing creative contents. Also there is a significant relationship between publishing business plans in the PRESS and reinforcement of creativity in audience. On the other hand results showed the reflection of the entrepreneur’s activities in the PRESS will lead to the reinforcement of risk taking spirit at the readers, and publishing the life story of the entrepreneurs will result in making the spirit of confidence at them.
