Abstract

One of the important aspects of climate is its effect on biological conditions especially human comfort. The purpose of this study was to determine the conditions and time zones of comfort in KHORRAMABAD. In this article, bioclimatic conditions of the city including climatic needs, CLIMATIC COMFORT zones, shadow and sunshine required were all measured on the basis of thermal sensation indices such as the effective temperature, OLGYAY method, Evans and Penwarden criteria based on the climatic data of KHORRAMABAD during 53 years. The results showed that, the best comfort time for people in KHORRAMABAD based on the effective temperature is from the fifth of April to the fifth of June. Based on OLGYAY bioclimatic criteria, only days of April and October can be regarded as comfort zone. According to EVANS CRITERIA, the days of April, May, October and November fall in comfort zone in KHORRAMABAD. Also, the nights are in comfort zone during July and August. According to the Penwarden criteria, the weather is pleasant during summer mornings and in autumns there are shadow conditions at noons.
