Abstract

Rapid extensions of urbanization and changes in life styles in the contemporary age have made tourism planning and its management a social, political and economic necessity. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures to use new knowledge in planning and management in order to meet the needs of tourists and to organize the needed facilities and spaces. This survey was done based on a systemic approach to phenomena related to tourism development in ISFAHAN CITY. To achieve this end TOURISM DEVELOPMENT INDEX was used as a compund standard to run a synchronic comparison between tourism features of TRAVEL AGENCIES and RESTAURANTS. Thus, various variables were taken into account and their role in developing each tourism feature was determined and each center was levelled accordingly. The survey shows that the TRAVEL AGENCIES and RESTAURANTS' have been classified into 4 levels: TRAVEL AGENCIES (level one 29.2%, level two 33.3%, level three 29.2%, level four 8.3%) and RESTAURANTS (level one 3.6%, level two 12.52%, level three 39.3%, level four 44.6%)
