Abstract

The present paper deals with the rural tourism as a strategy to achieve rural development. The study assumes that rural tourism can have a positive impact on reducing poverty and rural development. This study is applied in terms of its purpose and descriptive-analytical as far as its method is considered. Documentary and field methods such as researcher-made questionnaire, observation and interviews were used for data collection. The statistical population of the study consisted of the supervisors of eight tourism villages of Mishkhas village which had the largest number of tourists, that is, 1638 households. The sample size was determined using the HTML Table. 325 people participated in the study. The sampling method was multi-stage stratified. In this way, all of the eight villages in Mishkhas were identified and the population proportion of each village was sampled using simple random sampling. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyze the collected data. The coefficient determination which was 0. 79 showed that tourism development had played an important role in reducing poverty and rural development. The results of the study showed that all the aspects of the rural tourism under study have direct effects on rural poverty. The highest direct effect belonged to the economic dimension with the coefficient of 0. 28 and the lowest one was related to the physical dimension with a coefficient of 0. 11.
