Abstract

Nowadays tourism, especially local tourism, has an important role in the economical conditions of countries and causes their economic and social development. URBAN TOURISM is the most important type of tourism. In a lot of countries with successful tourism, the city is the basic element of tourism development. Cities are the places which attract tourists from all over the world. Tourism professional constitutes 11 percent of world GDP and provides more than 200 million jobs around the world, which includes 8% of total employment in the world. In the present descriptive and analytical research, the statistical population consisted of 383 families who were sampled from among people of KERMANSHAH and also from some authorities of Miras-e-Farhangi department, municipality, Maskan and Shahrsazi, hotels and restaurants and travel agencies, using Cochran formula for investigating the role of tourism in economic-social and physical development of KERMANSHAH. The instrument of data gathering was a questionnaire the results of which were analyzed using SPSS software and Spearman correlation coefficient. The results of questionnaires indicated that tourism influences the economic development of KERMANSHAH. The Location Quotient equation confirmed the impacts of tourism on the economy of the area. The result of the study was that tourism is an influential activity in URBAN DEVELOPMENT.
