Abstract

Nowadays if one wants to have access to a sustainable TOURISM, they must provide the necessary infrastructures and equipments. All the state and public organizations and even local gatherings and societies must somehow cooperate on this matter since sustainable TOURISM will be achieved much sooner under these conditions. In addition to the structures of an area, the infrastructures of the area form an inseparable part of TOURISM in that area and provide one of the most important factors for tourist attraction in that area. The purpose of the present study was to compare the macro provinces of the northern parts of Iran concerning structural as well as infrastructural characteristics in order to develop a sustainable pattern of TOURISM. This descriptive analysis study aimed at identifying three northern provinces (Gilan, Mazandaran, and Golestan) as the centers of TOURISM as well as their equipments to achieve the sustainable TOURISM pattern in this district. Various indicators have been used in the study to achieve the goals. The results of the study showed that the infrastructures of TOURISM in the mentioned district are not sufficient for the large number of tourists rushing into the provinces. It was concluded that the sustainable TOURISM development in these three provinces requires balancing the potentials of these areas and their infrastructure factors. There should be a basic management in the area so that the optimal development in TOURISM will be achieved. This achievement in its own turn requires coordination between the three provinces regarding TOURISM industry.
