Abstract

An exprimental study was designed to compare the invivo effects of Ariadent GUTTAPERCHA with Roeko and Diadent. Twenty one mature Albinus rats (mean weight 200 ± 25 gr) were selected for this trial.Four intradermal incisions were made at the dorsal part of each rat, with a polyethylene tube containing a Gutta percha cone being implanted in each incised area.Animals were sacrificed at 15,30 and 60 day intervals and the tubes together with adjacent tissues were excised.All the speciemens were prepared histologically and stained using H & E staining method. Histological variables were assessed including diameter of capsule, inflammation, vascularity and necrosis using light microscope.Results using statistical analysis revealed that the diameter of the capsule was significantly different at 60 day interval in comparison to the control group (P< 0.03).The inflammatory and vascular variables were also found to be significantly different when compared to the control group at 30 day interval (P<0.008).None of the cases presented necrosis. In conclusion: It seems that Ariadent GUTTAPERCHA could be tolerated and is as acceptable as the two other brands (Roeko - Diadent) for it's biocompatibility.
