Abstract

Literary criticism is a lively science developing with the development of societies and people's thoughts. This science has connections to other human sciences and amongst its branches intertextuality has a root in old Arabic literary criticism with similarities to adoption, plagiarism, and parody. But the difference is that intertextuality needs prolusion whilst the others appear in the text without any necessary prolusions.Intertextuality has different types and one of the most explicit ones is the QUR'ANIC INTERTEXTUALITY which NAGUIB MAHFOUZ on the most famous Arabic novelists has used in his novels. Here we are trying to discuss and discover the influence of Qur'an on his novel "Tales of our alley" using internal and external intertextuality and to find out the author's purpose of QUR'ANIC INTERTEXTUALITY in his novel. We have studied the codes in the novel to find the concepts of QUR'ANIC INTERTEXTUALITY in this novel.
