Abstract

One of the problems of new towns is the urban identity in those towns. Paying little attention to the damnations and factors of leads to the formation of artificial environments which are void of human identity. This results in low sense of place connection, solidarity and social cooperation, decrease in the motivation of the residents to continue residency and effect on non- realization of population objectives. Therefore, recognition of the identity-related components of new towns, investigating any new town in terms of enjoyment of these factors, analysis of the relationship between factors of urban identity and the amount of place belonging of residents, knowing the strengths and weaknesses in this regard can assist us to solve many problems arising from lack of identity in these towns. Therefore, in this context, this study is conducted in the new town of Glbahar with sample size of 760 people. The research methodology is descriptive - analytical and the data collected by questionnaire have been analyzed and described using SPSS and statistical methods such as frequency, nonparametric test chi- squre, coefficients relationship of two ordinal variable, Spearman correlation coefficient with the correlation plot. The results indicate that the amount of urban identity components in Golbahar city is 91.3 persent is very low to moderate. Also, test of the first hypothesis as “ it looks that residence time and palce connection of residents are related ” shows that based on the Gamma coefficient about 15 percent of the independent variable place connection is explained by the dependent variable residence time. The results of testing the second hypothesis which evaluates the correlation between two variables, COMPONENTS OF URBAN IDENTITY and place connection of residents, indicate the rejection of null hypothesis and the proving the opposite hypothesis. Correlation coefficient of 0.365 shows moderate and direct correlation between two variables.
