Abstract

PEDESTRIAN bridges have been built in order to enhance physical security for PEDESTRIANs crossing the street and avoid mixing motorist and PEDESTRIANs. PEDESTRIANs crossing the street disrupt the movement of cars and will have life-treating for them. The basic objective of this study is analysis of factors affecting the reluctance of citizens to use PEDESTRIAN bridges. This study in nature and purpose is applied and the research method is descriptive – analytical. The population of the research is all PEDESTRIANs of GORGAN. By utilizing Cochran formula and simple random sampling 230 samples were selected. The information was collected by questionnaire and SPSS software was used to analyze the data. Cronbach's alpha for different parts of the questionnaire were 0.893 which represents a high potential of confidence about research tool. The results of the research show that there is a significant relationship at 99% between independent variables including improperly positioned bridges, insufficient educational and cultural programs, and poor health PEDESTRIANs with the dependent variable (reluctance of citizens to use PEDESTRIAN bridges). T test results showed that lack of physical obstacles around PEDESTRIAN bridges affect the PEDESTRIANs not to use the bridges. ANOVA test results showed that there is a significant difference between variables such as age and education of the PEDESTRIANs in reluctant of using the bridges.
