Abstract

There are some concepts of classic Arabic poetry in the poems of Sharif Razi such as woman, WINE and journey to desert which have been employed within a mystic framework. These words do not connote or denote to their direct meanings, but they are sings and secrets as used by the mystics. Woman in his poems, particularly in his lyrics, does not connote to material love or love of WOMEN herself rather it is a secret which refers to love of the divine being.Travelling to desert refers to praiseworthy love which alludes to the journey of man to this world from birth to death. The poet's pure faith in Islam and religious obligations clearly reject any inclination on his part towards WINE.Hence, mentioning the concept and attributes of WINE in the beginning of some of his odes should have other reasons.
